In 2013, I began crafting organic lip balms, toothpastes, shampoos, and deodorants. This original curiosity in natural health/medicine sprouted into my first business selling these sustainable products, called Ellie’s Naturals. A few years later, when I developed autoimmune symptoms and was able to alleviate them by changing my diet, taking probiotics, and incorporating supplements into my routine (such as fish oil, B12, and turmeric), my real obsession with human health began, particularly in the microbiome and how it can affect (& be affected by) so many different parts of our bodies. I read endless amounts of research on fostering a healthy microbiome, as well as studies on vitamin supplementation, NAD+/sirtuins, and more. The biochemical complexity, as well as the astounding inter-connectedness, of the human body has become my passion, with the microbiome being the cornerstone of this interest. I founded Selling Made Simple in 2017, which promoted the resale & reuse of items that would have been otherwise discarded. An internship as a sales representative at Agilent Technologies taught me the business side of the science world, and I currently work as an SAT/ACT teacher for the Princeton Review. When I am not in the backcountry or climbing, I am doing research on nutraceuticals, hormones, longevity supplements, peptide therapy, and more, as well as designing sublingual and oral compounds. I also do clinical research at a lab focused on IBD patients at the University of Washington, where I am also writing a thesis on the vaginal microbiome.
